This assignment was inspired by the Dada movement. I thought it would be amusing to depict the Mona Lisa in a humorous style since it is such a serious painting.
Artist Statement: I utilized a template created by Sirisako, here is a link to it: https://www.unsell.design/free-indesign/free-blue-interior-portfolio-indesign-template/ I wanted to go for a simplistic design for my portfolio to put an emphasis on the pieces I present. I have an artist statement and sketches/work-in-progress images to give the viewer a better sense of my creative process.
I felt like the photo I found was very engaging/relevant to the subject of my postcard. I felt like the font I used on the back is something I would see on a postcard so that's why I selected that one. I also added the lines to sign it and a space for the stamp.
I feel like the selection tool will be the easiest to work with because it is somewhat similar to the pen tool in Illustrator, which I became pretty efficient at using. I think I am most interested in figuring out how to alter the lighting of an image (shadow, highlights, etc.) because that seems really difficult but also an essential tool to creating believable photo edits. I have heard a lot about Photoshop's AI features so I decided to watch a tutorial on it. I am very impressed with how advanced the AI is on Photoshop and I am interested to think of ways to use it in the future. I am, of course, concerned about AI tricking people into believing things that are not true, but for now it is just a fun feature. This video gave a really good overview of a variety of topics in a short amount of time. I feel confident to begin using Photoshop, although I still have much to learn.
