Caligramme

Dear Future Self,

I hope you continue to be creative and motivated throughout your life. Although life gets busy sometimes, it is important to prioritize your health and make time for things that make you happy. I hope you get a career in film and can pursue your passions in the future. I am not sure where I want to live yet in the future, but I want to live somewhere sunny. If you don’t get a career in film, you should go into marketing because I feel like you would be good at it. When you have your own place, you should get a dachshund. Even though it will most likely not be your career, you should still take time to draw and paint when you get the chance. If you have fallen out of the routine, you should be working out every day. Even though it may seem hard to fit the gym into a busy schedule, it’s an important part of life and you shouldn’t neglect it. You should also continue to spend time boxing and doing Jiu Jitsu since it is a good way to stay healthy and relieve stress. If you have enough money, you should choose somewhere in Europe to live or at least visit. I think Ireland or Italy would be nice. More than anything, you should make sure that you maintain your curiosity and ambition even as you get older. Life will continue to get harder, and it takes a lot of consciousness to be able to adapt and continue to grow as a person. Keep the people in your life who encourage you to grow and ignore those who want to drag you down into worse habits. Don’t be discouraged by hardship to be the best person you can be and continue to make an effort to be kind to others.

Artist Statement:
The purpose of this piece is to express myself through both words and imagery. I chose to do an abstract portrait of myself because I am an abstract artist and thought it would properly reflect my identity. I want to put the viewer into my shoes so the synthesis of both how I view myself and the words I used to describe myself come together to invite the viewer into my world.
