Ai HW 1

 

    I feel like the most difficult tool to learn will be the pen tool. Although we had some practice during class, it is still a pretty alien tool to me as I am used to drawing and not the vector-based pen tool. I think I will be able to get a hang of it eventually, though, and I am excited to improve my abilities.


    This was a useful video because it goes through every single tool in Ai. I think the easiest tools for me to get a hang off will be the lasso tool and the paint brush tool. This is because they are more intuitive than the pen tool and seem pretty straightforward.

    Since I am intimidated by the pen tool, I decided to watch a tutorial just going over it. I feel a little more confident as I followed along with this video. This, plus the activity in class, helped me to understand the pen tool's function a little better. I found that having a video go over how the different buttons affect the tool (shift, alt) helped me get a better grasp of the tool.

  I feel like the selection tool will be the easiest to work with because it is somewhat similar to the pen tool in Illustrator, which I became pretty efficient at using. I think I am most interested in figuring out how to alter the lighting of an image (shadow, highlights, etc.) because that seems really difficult but also an essential tool to creating believable photo edits. I have heard a lot about Photoshop's AI features so I decided to watch a tutorial on it. I am very impressed with how advanced the AI is on Photoshop and I am interested to think of ways to use it in the future. I am, of course, concerned about AI tricking people into believing things that are not true, but for now it is just a fun feature. This video gave a really good overview of a variety of topics in a short amount of time. I feel confident to begin using Photoshop, although I still have much to learn.
